Here are a few bios of some of the more interesting artists we carry:

Michael Sowa

Long before the international echoes generated through the press from Sowa's exhibition at the renowned Wilhelm Busch Museum in Hanover, Germany, the fans of Michael Sowa seemed to be magnetically drawn toward his paintings and their thoughtful contradictions between the comic and the solemn.

The native of Berlin prefers to let his work speak for itself. In fact, he chooses not to reveal his motives or objectives in creating his paintings.

Michael Sowa is neither a painter in the classical sense or a caricaturist. He projects his unique characters; athletically-inclined airborne pigs, tiny, well-dressed rabbits and humans with their oversized insect companions, into dreamlike reality where everyone and everything seems perfectly at home.

Rudi Hurzlmeier

Rudi Hurzlmeier was born in 1952 in Lower Bavaria. In his early life he worked as a gas station attendant, fruit picker and other jobs. He came to Munich in the 70's and worked there mostly as an occasional painter and object artist. His work is regularly shown in magazines such as, Stern, Penthouse, Titanic, Kowalski, in addition to many others. Hurzlmeier also has done work in the television medium. As of today, more than 20 books have been released at Lappen Publishing. Rudi presently resides with his family in Munich.

Phillip Craig

Philip Craig was born in Ottawa in 1951. He began his art studies in high school. After graduation, Philip continued on to Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario as a graphic design student.

In 1971, he returned to Ottawa to work for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as a television graphic/set designer. IN 1975, he became Art Director for th e C. B. C. in St. John's Newfoundland. By 1985, demand for Philip's work had become so great, he returned to Ottawa to pursue his Fine Arts talent full-time.

Philip now works exclusively in oils. His work is represented throughout Canada, the United States, England and Europe.
